Job details & eligibility

ITBP Head Constable Motor Mechanic Recruitment 2026 – 21 Posts

Vacancies, nationality and dates

ITBP invites eligible male Indian citizens, including subjects of Nepal and Bhutan as specified, for 21 Head Constable Motor Mechanic posts. The Group C non-gazetted positions are temporary and likely to become permanent. Applications are online from 28 September at 00:01 to 27 October 2026 at 23:59. Selected personnel may serve anywhere in India or abroad. Vacancy numbers are tentative, with ex-serviceman reservation within the category totals.

Education, age and documents

Pass 12th and hold either a recognised Motor Mechanic/ITI certificate with three years of practical workshop experience, or a three-year Automobile Engineering diploma. General age is 18–25 on 27 October, corresponding to dates of birth from 28 October 2001 to 27 October 2008 inclusive. Reserved and service concessions require valid proof. Date of birth follows the matriculation certificate. Category certificates must satisfy the notice’s cutoff and format requirements.

Physical tests and medical requirements

PET requires 1.6 km in seven minutes thirty seconds, an eleven-foot long jump and a three-and-a-half-foot high jump; jumps allow three attempts. PET is qualifying and ex-servicemen are exempt as specified. PST measures height and chest; relaxed standards require the prescribed certificate. Weight and detailed vision, tattoo and medical standards are in the notice. A qualifying physical test does not establish final medical fitness.

Selection, written and practical tests

After PET/PST, original document verification precedes the written examination. The written paper has 100 objective questions for 100 marks over two hours, with 60 marks from trade theory. General/EWS/ex-servicemen require 35% and SC/OBC-NCL 33% as notified. The practical test carries 50 marks and needs 50% to qualify. Written-test marks determine final merit after qualifying all stages, including detailed or review medical examination. Test dates and admit cards will be announced online.

Apply and fee

Create a profile at the ITBP recruitment portal, select this recruitment, complete the application, upload the required evidence and pay through its online payment gateway. UR/OBC/EWS applicants pay ₹100; SC and ex-servicemen are exempt. Submit by the deadline and preserve the application and admit-card printouts. Offline applications are not accepted. Serving government/PSU/autonomous-body employees require the prescribed original NOC at verification. Final submission does not allow later category or detail changes.

Pay and service condition

Pay is Level 4, ₹25,500–₹81,100, with allowances and benefits under the rules. The notification requires at least ten years of service; earlier resignation requires repayment of three months’ pay and allowances or training cost, whichever is higher. Read this service condition and all force-specific requirements before applying.
